The area that is now called Canada was in the olden days occupied by french colonies. When the British took over the place, they divided it into two parts calling one the upper Canada and the other the lower Canada. Later these two parts were reunited and were called, “Province of Canada”. In the Confederation that took place in 1867, the whole country was referred as just Canada and till date it is known as Canada.

The history of Canada dates back to very early times of human existence. Archaeologists have found evidence of human existence in Canada even twenty six thousand years ago.

Geography of Canada

Canada shares many of its geographical features with the US, like the rocky mountains and the four great lakes. The vegetation comprises of coniferous forests. Many large islands as well as mountains are situated here.
